Our client is a fast-growing international company with a recognised global brand, supported by a motivated and quickly growing team. The role is based in Croatia, where the company’s central IT function sits, but its scope is fully global: it covers the IT systems and infrastructure that support the entire organisation worldwide.
Position
The IT Director holds end-to-end ownership of the company’s global IT – both systems and infrastructure – across all locations worldwide. It is a leadership role with a strong operational, hands-on dimension: the IT Director leads a small internal team and external partners, while staying closely involved in the work itself.
The defining context is scale and growth – bringing consistency, reliability and security to a distributed global environment, and building foundations that can absorb new locations, more users and additional systems without friction.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategy and roadmap: Mapping the current systems, infrastructure and processes, defining the department’s target operating model, building a multi-year IT roadmap, and defining and enforcing global IT standards and policies for consistent service delivery across all locations.
Enterprise systems and services: Owning all enterprise systems – ERP, CRM, HRIS, collaboration and identity and access management – along with application lifecycle, integrations and upgrades, and the global IT service management processes and ticketing system.
Infrastructure and scalability: Owning and continuously improving the global infrastructure – networks, connectivity, cloud platforms and core services – driving modernisation, standardisation, automation, high availability, monitoring and backup, and designing it to scale with company growth, new locations and a growing workforce.
New location rollouts: Leading the setup of IT infrastructure for new locations – coordinating external vendors in the company’s principal growth market, and independently leading openings closer to the central function, including travelling to those locations.
Security, compliance and risk: Owning IT security, compliance and risk – vulnerability management, patching, access control and identity management – and defining and maintaining incident response, business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Budget, vendors and cost ownership: Building and tracking the annual IT budget, owning cost allocation and licence usage, and maintaining a thorough overview of vendor contracts.
Leadership and team development: Leading and developing the internal IT team and external partners.
Candidate
The role is suited to a senior IT professional who is genuinely proactive, independent in their thinking, and strong enough in character to carry the decisions they believe are right through to the end – including in front of the C-level.
Senior IT leadership experience covering both IT systems and IT infrastructure, including having led at least a small team.
Experience gained in a startup or scale-up environment, where systems and processes actually had to be scaled – rather than a career spent solely within mature, already-structured environments.
Solid hands-on knowledge of enterprise systems (ERP including ERP implementation, CRM, HRIS and collaboration tools) and IT service management / ticketing systems.
Strong command of infrastructure and security – networking, connectivity, cloud platforms, identity and access management, security policies, vulnerability management, backup, high availability and disaster recovery.
A proven ability to improve existing IT environments and scale them for growth.
Experience supporting multi-location or global organisations.
Strong strategic thinking and change-management skills.
Fluency in English is essential, given the global nature of the organisation.
A proactive, independent, strong-minded and hands-on profile, able to hold their ground and communicate credibly at all levels, including senior leadership.
What’s in it for you?
A senior leadership role with genuine end-to-end ownership of global IT, systems and infrastructure alike.
The opportunity to shape and modernise the IT environment of a fast-growing international organisation from the ground up.
A role that combines strategy with hands-on impact, with real influence and visibility at C-level.
Genuinely international scope, including direct involvement in new location openings across regions.
A motivated and rapidly growing working environment with room to build and leave a mark.
