Finance and Controlling Director (m/f)
The Position
We seek a proactive, data-oriented, and driven Finance and Controlling Director to play a pivotal role in supporting the company’s ongoing growth and business development.
By holding this position, you will be responsible for driving and supporting the achievement of the company’s business objectives and contributing to the ongoing development of the company’s business performance in Croatia and abroad by developing and implementing finance/accounting /controlling policies, procedures, and systems.
In addition, you are expected to support M&A activities, contribute as one of the key persons in the post-acquisition integration efforts (for acquired targets), and provide continuous insights needed for key strategic decisions.
Key responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
Financial Strategy and Planning
- Design and implement budgeting and planning procedures.
- Design and implement regular cash-flow management procedures, including a 13-week rolling cash-flow analysis.
- Provide support and suggestions during the implementation of technologies/systems (e.g., ERP, BI) for more effective business monitoring
- Prepare ad-hoc analyses, such as feasibility studies, breakeven analyses, and cost-benefit studies.
- Provide support in defining and improving pricing policies.
Accounting and Financial Management
- Design, coordinate, improve, and implement accounting procedures aligned with applicable standards, including preparation of consolidated financial statements.
- Manage and optimize custom financial processes, such as event and monthly POS reconciliations with partners.
- Coordinate, supervise, and guide the accounting team (internal or external, 3 members).
Controlling and Reporting
- Design and implement a comprehensive management reporting system and controlling function.
- Prepare standardized reports for the Fund’s portfolio management purposes.
- Automate key or repetitive processes to enhance efficiency.
Risk Management and External Relations
- Support and lead negotiations with banks and other potential funding sources.
- Manage and assist potential external advisors (e.g., financial, and tax consultants).
- Provide support to auditors and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Assist during potential M&A transactions, such as bolt-on acquisitions or share swap arrangements.
Leadership and Decision Support
- Provide support in the decision-making process through thorough analyses and recommendations.
- Lead and guide internal teams and external advisors to meet business objectives.
The Candidate
- A master’s degree in finance/controlling or a relevant field.
- Preferred candidates will have 8-10 years of total professional experience in finance or controlling, ideally within a mid-sized, rapidly growing organization. Previous experience in a Big4 firm or a comparable consulting environment is highly desirable. At least 3 years of management-level experience in corporate finance or similar is required.
- Fluent in Croatia and English.
- Knowledge of financial standards and regulations.
- Experience in implementing ERP systems, accounting software, and similar systems.
- Working knowledge in relevant ERP / accounting and similar systems.
- Experience with accounting and ERP capabilities.
- Advanced use of MS Office suite (especially Excel) and business intelligence tools.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
